Centegra Health System - Centegra Purchases Land in Huntley, just North of Algonquin
Centegra Health System and the Village of Huntley recently announced the purchase of land and preliminary plans for the development of a major healthcare campus to be located in the northeast portion of the community. Village officials have been working with Centegra for the past several months to find an appropriate site to add much needed medical services to the community.
Along with the tremendous population growth, village officials, along with cooperation of the governmental entities in the community, have worked hard to provide high-quality services, schools, recreation and retail services. “We are pleased to be bringing high-quality healthcare services to meet the needs of our community,” stated Huntley Mayor Charles Sass. “Centegra’s commitment to our community means that Huntley residents and the people in the surrounding communities, including Lakewood , Lake In The Hills, Algonquin and the southern portion of Crystal Lake , will have convenient access to a wide range of programs and services.”
The new Centegra Healthcare Campus will be located on approximately 110 acres of property in Huntley bounded by Algonquin and Reed Roads adjacent to Tom’s Farm Market and Greenhouses. Centegra has worked working with Tom Halat, dedicated Huntley resident, who will continue to operate the Farm Market and farm acreage in the area. To increase access to this site, plans to extend Hailgus Road north to Reed Road are also being developed by the Village of Huntley .
Initial plans for the new site include an urgent care center, a multi-specialty physician practice, medical imaging services, general outpatient services, and a second site for Health Bridge Fitness Center. The campus will house over 150,000 square feet of medical services and programs. Additional services will be developed as the future healthcare needs of the surrounding communities grow.
Centegra Health System President and CEO Michael S. Eesley noted the importance of providing healthcare services to Huntley and the southern portion of McHenry County. “In working with Mayor Sass and the Village Board we recognized a healthcare need in the greater Huntley area. Our new campus will provide state-of-the-art, service focused, and convenient healthcare services for all residents in the Huntley, Lake In The Hills, Algonquin, Lakewood and Southern Crystal Lake communities. Our partnership with the Village of Huntley further demonstrates Centegra’s commitment to providing access to high-quality healthcare, from wellness to comprehensive medical care, in the greater McHenry County area,” Eesley stated.
As plans move forward, Centegra Health System will be working closely with Mayor Sass and the Huntley Village Board. The project is a significant one for the community and will require approval by the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board. Centegra is already at work on the Certificate of Need application for the project. The anticipated completion date for the facility will be during the first quarter of 2008.
